GAP SHIRT: Item No. 000020

A lot of the shirts I own are from the Gap. This short-sleeve, button-up shirt is 100% cotton, size XXL. It was made in Sri Lanka.

I use to have a habit of shopping the Gap clearance every weekend. Now that I'm trying to minimize my life's bulk, this is the first among many Gap brand shirts that has to go.

Item No. 000019 now listed

OK, so I've been struggling to really get the word out about the project, so I've been a little bummed. A majority of the items I'm listing aren't selling, and I suspect it's because many people aren't aware of AMLFS3. So, if you could, please spread the word.

Until then, the next item up for grabs is, well, up for grabs. Click on the item name to place your bid.

D'ANNUNZIO SHIRT:
During my freshman year at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kan., I hosted a localized version of "Singled Out" (the dating game from MTV). I was the "Chris Hardwick," so I went to The Buckle and bought this D'Annunzio shirt. It's size XL, 100% polyester and Made in the U.S.A.

Item No. 000016
COLLEGE SHOT GLASS:
On one side of this shot glass, "COLLEGE" is printed in all capital letters. Printed on the other side is "The best six years of my life." The shot glass was a "gift" for filling out a credit card application when I was at Kansas State. There were far too many of these free gifts throughout my four and a half years in college.

Item No. 000017
THE BIG BANG SHOT GLASS:
While attending a conference in St. Louis, I met a girl named Elizabeth Taylor (no joke). She was from Oklahoma, and we ended up going to The Big Bang, a piano bar where we stayed until last call. I bought this shot glass to remember that bar. And Elizabeth Taylor.

Item No. 000018
'THIRD & HEAVEN':
This novel by Ben Patrick Johnson was given to me by my friend Brad who said it took him a while to get through it. I read the first chapter twice, but never read any more of the book. All I can tell you is it's about a group of friends who regularly meet at a diner.

OK, this will be the end of VHS tapes for a little while. But I do have quite a collection, and someone out there is bound to still have a VCR, right? (Seriously, am I the only one?)

No. 000013
'BIG DADDY' ON VHS: One of my roommates gave me this movie as a Christmas gift when I was at Kansas State. I hadn't seen the movie, and she thought it would be one of my favorites. I watched it once.

No. 000014

'SAVE THE LAST DANCE' ON VHS: This is one of my favorite movies. It is part of a VHS collection I started when I lived with my best friend Heather in Coralville, Iowa. Every Sunday we would treat ourselves to a new VHS at Target. It became a weekly ritual, and it is why I have as many movies as I do.

Items No. 000002 to No. 000010 now for sale

It took a little bit longer to get these items up than planned — I've been having some real issues, obviously. But now the first 10 items of the sale are posted, and bids are being accepted. So, check it out.

No. 000002

CD COLLECTION: This 12-disc Case Logic CD holder is filled with a variety of music I listened to in high school. Among the CDs are four from Colin Raye, as well as Toni Braxton's "Secrets," Kenny G's "Breathless," All 4 One's self-titled disc, CD singles from R. Kelly and Paula Cole and Whitney Houston. Along with these CDs are Live and Michael W. Smith CDs that belonged to friends of mine. Wow, what a collection.

No. 000003

GOLFER GIRL: This statue, which is about 8 or 9 inches tall, was one of about 15 sports-themed statues I once owned. My friend Greg decorated my yard with them when I was living in Michigan. I left them all behind when I moved to Louisiana, but he brought this one to me when he came to visit earlier this year.

No. 000004

MAGIC 8 BALL: I'm not sure where I got this Magic 8 Ball, but several of my friends said, "I can't believe you're going to sell that" when I told them about this project. The only magic thing about this 8 Ball is the fact you eventually will get the answer you want if you just keep asking and rephrasing your questions.

No. 000005
LIVESTRONG BRACELET: When Lance Armstrong started the LiveStrong campaign, I called around to every mall I could think of trying to track down a LiveStrong bracelet. I ended up having to wait for a local store to get a second shipment. I wore my bracelet for about a week before it sat on top of my dresser. Every time I have moved, the bracelet always made its way back to the top of my dresser.

No. 000006

KODAK DISPOSABLE CAMERA: There are five exposures left on this camera, so you can capture some memories of your own. As far as the photos taken on this camera, I really have no idea what they are or when they were taken. My best guess is that they're of me and my friends out at bars or just hanging out.

No. 000007
KODAK FUNSAVER 35: There are three or four exposures left on this camera, so you can capture some memories of your own. As far as the photos taken on this camera, I really have no idea what they are or when they were taken. My best guess is that they're of me and my friends out at bars or just hanging out.

No. 000008

J. CREW SHOES: These blue canvas shoes, men's size 13, were ordered online from J. Crew. They never have been worn.

No. 000009

BUDDAH STATUE: I bought this statue at a mall in Salina, Kan., during Christmas break of my sophomore year of college. I was Christmas shopping with a friend, but I think this was the only thing I bought.

No. 000010

SHAMROCK GLASSES: These shamrock-shaped sunglasses were bought at a Spencer Gifts in Fort Gratiot, Mich., for the 2006 St. Patrick's Day pub crawl in Port Huron, Mich. The pub crawl wasn't actually on St. Patrick's Day, but I did have a great time with my friends visiting all of the bars in town.

Item No. 000001 now on eBay

Being in New York to celebrate my 30th birthday at the time I'm launching All My Life for Sale has proven to be a bit of a challenge. The use of Internet in my hotel — or anywhere near Times Square, for that matter — has proven a bit difficult.

But, I have posted the first item of the project. More items will be posted Monday evening. After that, items will be posted each Sunday.

ITEM NO. 000001 TROLL DOLL TIE:
I made this necktie my freshman year of high school in Minneola, Kan., as a project for home economics. It is one of two ties I made from the fabric. I gave the other tie to my friend Katy, and we wore them to awards night at our school.

Click here to bid on this item.

Get ready ... the sale starts April 27

It's been a long time coming, but I'm only a few weeks away from launching All My Life for Sale — the third round. This is an interesting social experiment I've wanted to do for years, and I'm finally getting around to going live with the sale of, well, my life.

I'm selling everything (almost) I own on eBay in an experiment to see why I collect the things I do. I have boxes upon boxes of stuff from my past that just collects dust in closets inside my tiny apartment. And I'm finally ready to let it go.

The last 15 months or so, since I bought the domain name for one shiny Abraham Lincoln (that's a penny, folks) in an eBay auction, have been spent beginning to inventory my belongings ... I still have a long way to go, too. But I'm ready to begin selling what I already have inventoried.

I figure there's no better day than on my 30th birthday to start what is bound to be one of the most bizarre — I am pretty sure my mom thinks I'm crazy — experiments of my life.
